Clamps and clamping plates from norelem

Norelem Clamping Elements – precise workpiece clamping for optimal machining results

Clamping elements play a key role in industrial manufacturing. Standard components are used to securely and reliably fasten workpieces during machining processes. Clamping elements are therefore used in various metalworking applications. They are used to hold workpieces on machine tools such as milling machines, lathes, and drilling machines. These tools are also used in assembly systems and testing equipment. The variety of clamping elements ranges from mechanical clamping devices to complex hydraulic or pneumatic clamping systems. To meet different requirements, Norelem offers tools in various sizes and shapes. Clamping elements are available in aluminum and hardened steel.

Here we show you how to use a clamping element

Clamping elements belong to the group of clamping devices. They form the foundation of many industrial manufacturing processes. Their essential function is to maintain the stability of workpieces during different machining operations. Their areas of application range from metalworking to plastics and woodworking. Each clamping element from Norelem is designed to meet the specific requirements of various applications and ensure the best possible fixation of workpieces.

What are clamping elements?

Clamping elements are standard components used in metalworking. They are used to securely hold workpieces during machining.
Standard components are typically made from robust materials such as hardened steel or aluminum and feature a gripping mechanism that securely holds the workpiece. This mechanism may consist of clamping jaws, screw devices, collets, or other mechanisms.
Clamping elements often also offer the possibility to adjust the clamping range or depth to secure workpieces of different sizes. To ensure firm fixation, clamping elements are used together with other clamping devices such as vices, clamping jaws, or clamping blocks.

Rotating clamping elements

If various solid bodies need to be fastened to a workbench and a machine vice is unsuitable due to lack of space, rotating clamping elements are used. They are designed to be adjustable to each workpiece. It is important to ensure that the standard part is always aligned parallel with the table surface. The rotating function is especially suitable for large and bulky workpieces.

Adjustable clamping elements

Compared to machine vices, adjustable clamping elements offer a cost-effective alternative. In this type of clamp, tension is applied using the threaded spindle of the clamping element. Tension can be created or released by turning the threaded screw.

Here you can see the application video of adjustable clamping elements

Clamping elements with flattened ball

The flattened ball on the underside allows secure clamping of workpieces with angled surfaces. The ball automatically adapts to the surface, preventing damage. This type of clamping element is especially suitable for workpieces made from delicate materials. While the clamping element is made from hardened steel, the ball is made from bearing steel.
In addition to gentle fixation, the ball supports even pressure distribution. Even pressure distribution improves stability and safety during machining.

Clamping elements with stepped teeth

Norelem offers clamping elements with stepped teeth in steel and aluminum. These clamps are intended to be used only in combination with a universal clamping base. The base is equipped with special grooves or recesses that fit perfectly with the stepped teeth. The base provides additional support and aids positioning.

To give you an idea of how the stepped-tooth clamp and the universal base work together, we show you in the application video.

Bent steel clamping arm

This clamping element is characterized by its bent shape. This allows the workpiece to be positioned at a certain angle. The standard component contributes to improved flexibility of the clamping setup. The workpiece can be fixed in a way that allows easier access to certain areas. In our video, you can see how tension is applied or released by pushing the clamping bar forward or backward.
In addition to this selection of clamping elements, the product range includes many more versions. Each of the 27 clamping elements has its specific advantages and areas of application.

Norelem clamping elements – versatility for various applications

In addition to the tools, the category also includes the following clamping devices:

  • Height block
  • Clamping bridge
  • Clamping element holder
  • Clamping flap
  • Clamping claw
  • Support extension

Height block

A height block is used in metalworking and other industrial applications to adjust the height of workpieces or tools. Height blocks consist of a solid block or plate with precise dimensions. Standard components are available in various heights. The primary function of a height block is precise height adjustment of a workpiece or tool above the working surface. They serve as a support surface and protect against damage or contamination. They also provide a stable base during processing.
The P-shaped height block is used only in combination with clamping jaws. It is made of hardened steel and available in various sizes.

Clamping bridge

The main function of the clamping bridge is secure fixation of workpieces during machining. With a clamping bridge, two workpieces can be clamped simultaneously via one clamping point. Since this is a mini clamping bridge, it is available only in heights of 10 mm, 15 mm, and 25 mm, and lengths of 16 mm, 24 mm, and 36 mm. It is made of polished steel.

Clamping element holder

Clamping element holders are used to secure clamping elements. They are tightened with a wing screw to hold the clamping element in place. The holder is available in three versions. In all variants, the pressure and retaining rings are made of hardened steel, and the spring is made of spring steel. The rings are polished, while the spring has a natural finish.

Clamping flap

The clamping flap consists of a movable folding mechanism that quickly clamps or releases the workpiece. Its main function is to securely fix a machined workpiece on a machine tool or workbench. The flap folds over the workpiece and is secured using clamping devices or screws. This hex nut should be used to tighten the flap.

Clamping jaws

Clamping jaws are also used to securely hold workpieces. They are made from durable metal construction and feature various clamping mechanisms that hold the workpiece in place. The “clamping elements” product group includes two versions of clamping jaws:
Continuously adjustable clamping jaw: The clamping force is applied from above. It is designed for high loads and suitable for clamping cutting and punching tools. This version enables clamping at different height levels. It requires minimal space on the machine table and is available in two forms, with form B supplied with a T-slot bolt, nut, and washer.

Clamping jaw with round contact surface: The round contact element provides even pressure distribution, improving stability and minimizing damage or deformation — especially for delicate materials. It is made from hardened steel and can be combined with other device elements.

Support extensions

Support extensions are considered accessories for clamping elements. They increase the clamping height and consist of a pressure piece, support screw, and additional fastening screws. They are placed between the clamping device and the workpiece to enlarge the contact area or support specific regions.

Long service life and reliability of clamping elements for long-term use

Clamping elements offer a number of advantages in metalworking and other industrial applications. Some of these include:

Safety

Clamping elements securely and firmly hold workpieces, reducing the risk of accidents or injuries. Stable fixation allows operators to work more safely.

Precision

Clamping elements allow precise positioning and fixation of workpieces, resulting in accurate machining outcomes. This is essential for parts requiring tight tolerances or complex geometries.

Efficiency

Clamping elements streamline machining processes. Workpieces can be quickly and easily fixed, reducing setup times and increasing production throughput.

Versatility

Clamping elements are available in various sizes, shapes, and configurations. The range includes 27 variants designed to meet different application needs. They can be used across different machines and workstations.

Cost efficiency

With precise and secure fixation, machining becomes more accurate. Reduced scrap and rework improve the overall economic efficiency of production processes.
