Position-control, friction-stay, soft-closing, and self-closing hinges
Positioning, detent, damping, and self-closing hinges
Spring hinges can be used to hold doors or lids open or closed. They can be combined with dampers to add a soft-close effect. Some Sugatsune spring hinges are adjustable. By adjusting the internal spring tension, the force and speed of hinge movement can be modified. They are available in stainless steel, aluminum, polyacetal (POM), and other materials.
Self-closing hinges can be set to automatically open or close using their own weight as a constant force. This force causes the door to open or close automatically. They are available in stainless steel.
Detent hinges hold the door or lid in specific positions without the need for secondary support. Some also incorporate built-in damping mechanisms to provide a soft-close effect. These hinges are available in stainless steel (SUS304), aluminum alloy, and polyacetal (POM).
Torque hinges—sometimes called friction hinges—are designed to stop and hold a lid or door in any position. Sugatsune torque hinges are offered in various torque levels, including adjustable-torque versions. They come in several materials, including stainless steel, polyacetal (POM), zinc alloy, and others.
Damping hinges contain a special built-in mechanism that reduces closing momentum. This creates a soft-close effect, helping prevent impact damage. They are offered in a variety of finishes, including polished, black, white, dark gray, and more.
