Handwheels and hand cranks, position indicators

Control Wheels

Hand-operated wheels are designed for manually rotating a shaft. They are commonly used as control elements in mechanical engineering and for manual adjustment or setting via rotation. They are installed on machine tools and geared motors, serving, for example, to open and close valves. In emergencies, a handwheel can also be used to move individual machine parts.

For precise transmission of rotational motion from the hand to the machine components being adjusted or set, handwheels must be connected to the shaft via a locating spring and slot or another clamping mechanism. For convenient operation, a crank can be attached to the handwheel.

The range of handwheels includes various types, from aluminum disc wheels for manual operation to plastic and cast iron wheels according to DIN 950. Versions in duroplast and thermoplast are also available.
