A lid that closes without a slam: Southco EC damping hinges

A heavier service cover can slam shut, trap fingers or damage the frame over time. Southco EC hinges with an integrated rotary damper limit the closing speed, so you can simply release the lid and let it gently close on its own.

How it works

Damping acts only in the closing direction, so there is no additional resistance when opening. The hinges are factory-set and require no adjustment.

What design engineers will appreciate

The range offers different damping torques, right- and left-hand versions, and several mounting options. The appropriate version is selected according to the lid's weight, dimensions and geometry.

What if the lid needs to stay open?

Combine them with Southco E6 constant-torque hinges: E6 holds the lid in the selected position, while EC provides damped closing. This combination can also accommodate larger, heavier covers.
